The first purple story we read today was Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes. In the story Lily loves everything about school and wants to be a teacher when she grows up. That is when she doesn’t want to be a doctor, or a nurse, or a dancer, or a singer, or a hairdresser. We worked together to brainstorm a list of jobs and then we all chose the one we would most like to be when we grow up and wrote about it. We also practiced sequencing events from the story. Then we made a purple paper purse to put our stories in. The boys weren’t too excited about making purple purses, but they were good sports!!!
Our Tuesday’s always seem to fly by because we have so many special things to do. Not only did we go to PE and Library this afternoon, but we also had our first tornado drill of the year. There wasn’t much time to do the rest of the purple activities that were planned, but we did get to read one more purple story before we headed to the bus.
