Green Day & Orange Day

Wow!!! What a great first week of school we had. I hope everyone had a great weekend and was ready to come back today for another fun filled week of color day activities. Green Day and Orange Day seemed to have both just flown by. We ended up having library on both days so that didn’t leave us much time to get in our daily reading review lessons and all of the fun color day activities that I had planned.

On Friday for “Green Day” we read a great describing book called The Aminal by Lorna Balian. That’s right . . . it’s really spelled that way!!! We also read Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Leoni and did a yummy color mixing activity with icing that I’m sure you heard all about. We did a lot of eating that day because Lukas and his family brought green rice crispy treats for our morning snack.

Today for “Orange Day” we read The Cats Colors by Jane Cabrera and made a cat book of our own all about things that are orange. Then we read The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Manus Pinkwater and painted a picture of our dream house just like Mr. Plumbean did in the story. We also enjoyed some yummy orange Cheeze-Its thanks to Colin and his family.
