Wow!!! What a great first week of school we had. It’s been so fun getting to know each other and doing all of our fun color day activities. Today for green day we read Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Leoni and did a yummy color mixing activity with icing that I’m sure you heard all about. We also wrote our own stories about Little Green. We saved them to hang in the hallway for our other first grade friends to see.
Another one of our favorite green stories today was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. After we read the funny rhyming story we wrote about a food we would not like to eat. Besides doing all of the fun color day activities you’ve been reading about we have also been doing math and reading every afternoon. In reading we are reviewing the consonant sounds and kindergarten sight words. We are also working on our handwriting skills. It’s very important that everyone knows how to write each letter of the alphabet correctly using the lines and spaces. In math we have been learning how to use a ten-frame. This is a tool that we will use all year in our math series. We have also been learning how to recognize and create dot patterns.
