All week we worked on many of our 2nd quarter skills by doing fun scarecrow themed activities. At centers we sorted words by vowel sounds (-at, –an, –op, –on), unscrambled sentences and practiced writing them using capitalization and correct punctuation marks, built short vowel words using letter tiles, counted sets of nickels and pennies, and matched sets of rhyming words and sound spelled them.
We also read lots of books about scarecrows. Here were a few of our favorites.
To wrap up the week we wrote our very own scarecrow stories today and made a scarecrow art project to hang in the hallway.
