Cloudy With a Chance of . . .

It looks like we picked the perfect week for our weather unit.  You can’t beat a week where there is snow, rain, wind and cold temperatures at the beginning of the week and a forecast for hot and sunny weather planned at the end of the week.

  We used one of my favorite stories to kick off our week of fun.  First we brainstormed a list of all the kinds of weather we could think of.

Then we read Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett.  Most of us were familiar with the book or had seen the movie.

    Then we used our imaginations and made a book about a town just like Chewandswallow where food fell from the sky.  Besides coming up with a name for our town we also got to decide what would fall from the sky for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a bedtime snack.

Even though everyone thought it sounded kind of fun to have food fall from the sky, we decided it was probably better to just have rain, sleet and snow.
