It’s hard to believe how fast our 1st day of school flew by. It was so nice to see so many smiling faces this morning. After we got all of our supplies organized we began the day by learning how to take lunch count on the Promethean Board. We will do this every morning when we arrive. We also got to go see the lunchroom and meet the lunch ladies. They showed us where to sit and how to get a school lunch.
Some of us were a little nervous about the 1st Day of School. We talked about some of the things that had made us nervous and then we read a book called First Day Jitters. In the story the main character is very nervous about her 1st day of School and doesn’t want to go. At the end of the story we found out that the main character was actually the teacher!!!
Before our first recess we watched a short PowerPoint about the playground and learned all the safety rules about each piece of equipment. When we came back inside we enjoyed a snack and read a book called Never Spit On Your Shoes by Denys Cazet. In the story Arnie goes to his first day of school and helps his teacher make a list of class rules. Then we learned about our classroom rules and made an Arnie puppet. When we finished we paired up with a partner to practice telling some of the rules.
After lunch we shared the special items we brought in our “ME Sacks”. Then we drew pictures of ourselves on the 1st Day of School. We are going to save these pictures and put them in a book to keep in our class library.
We also went to music, did a math paper and had our last recess all before reading one last {monkey} story and sequencing three of the events.
As you can see it was really was a very busy day!!!
