No Ordinary Potato

Today we read a popular Irish folktale called Jamie O’Rouke and the Big Potato by Tomie dePaola.  In this story a lazy Irishman plants a magical potato seed that he gets from a leprechaun and it grows into an enormous potato.CIMG0011

After reading the story we did a creative writing project.  We began by  making our own giant potato and used paper from the scrap box to decorate it.  Then we finished the following writing prompt about our unique potato:

{This is no ordinary potato.  It is a . . .}

It is always so much fun to see how creative the kids can be.  Check out these amazing potato creations!!!  We are displaying them in the hallway until next week and then we will bring them home to share with you.
